Mutual support can be a double-edged sword. Joining a support group can lead to renewal, likening it to pressing the REFRESH button on life. However, a support group can also keep you stuck pressing the REPLAY button and hearing the same thing over and over. The picture of your life can get out of focus.
In any community, there are ongoing groups with a variety of themes. Some are positive and renewing of spirit. A dance class, a choir, a woodworking group, a book club, a motorcycling club and a gardening club are good examples. Others may be positive in the short term,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but in the long term can serve to keep you stuck and powerless, as did Jim’s unemployed forestry workers group.
Jim,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], on the other hand loved the get-togethers. He reveled in the mutual support because they all had the same wound: being unemployed. He did not look for other work, because, after all,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], “There are no jobs.”
After a couple of meetings, Bob stopped going and put his energy into trying some of the back-to-work ideas he had gained. He felt relieved,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], because the majority of the ex-workers were pessimistic about finding work and the negativity was getting him down.
If you find yourself not moving on, press the REFRESH button by trying something else, like volunteering at the SPCA, joining a hiking group or seeing a therapist.
How do you tell if a group is likely to be of the REFRESH variety or the REPLAY variety? First, notice whether the group is organized around an activity. If it is, and the activity is something you would like to try, go for it. Learning and trying new things is renewing and adds meaning to life.
It was not long before both had picked up some good ideas for getting back to work. And by being with other recently laid-off workers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], both had shed some of their feelings of failure. Besides being practical, the meetings provided needed emotional support.

On the other hand, if the group theme is a wound rather than an activity, be cautious. You may gain excellent information by joining a support group that dwells on what’s wrong, but it can become a trap after you get the initial knowledge. I know you vets out there are saying, “I’ve had this too long, nothing will help me; I’ve tried everything.” My husband had his severe PTSD for thirty years when we started using the EFT with him. Here’s an example: he had a problem with rain. Even though we live in the desert,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], there would occasionally be a few times in the year when it would rain for a few days at a time. After a few hours of the rain, his anxiety levels would rise and we would have a hard time of it until the weather changed. Once, about a year ago, when that happened, he got kind of freaked out and said “Help me, I’m having flashbacks.” I had guided him through the technique before on other issues and he’d gotten a lot of relief, so he knew it worked. When we started tapping about the rain anxiety, on a scale of 0-10, (10 being the worst he’d ever had), he was an 8. We went through a few rounds of the technique, which took only a matter of minutes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and he got down to a more comfortable level of 3. He said, “Ok, I feel better now.” and went back to what he was doing. It’s raining today and he has only a small amount of anxiety about it, so the effect has lasted.
I eventually heard about and studied TFT, Thought Field Therapy, an innovative therapy consisting of tapping on sequences of acupoints for trauma. I found that TFT works, but can be complex and difficult to apply. Later on I heard about EFT,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Emotional Freedom Technique,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a simpler and more ‘user-friendly’ version of tapping. Fifteen courses and much study later and I’m more impressed than ever with what EFT can do.
EFT has been found to be successful on many issues such as insomnia, phobias and physical pain as well as PTSD. It’s relatively painless compared to some other techniques used to treat PTSD and the basics of it can be learned in a fairly short period of time. It’s a self-help and self-empowerment tool that people can use to calm and relax and heal themselves.

ACEP (Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a worldwide organization) held their annual Canadian conference in Toronto last October. One of the papers presented at the conference was entitled, "The Treatment of Combat Trauma in Veterans using EFT." This pilot study measured levels of anxiety, depression and addiction using the SA-45 and PCL-M, two symptom checklists. The average score on the PCL-M (PTSD Checklist - Military) was 66; scores above 50 are indicative of long-term PTSD, and are not easy to change. After 5 days of treatment with EFT,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the vets' average score went down to 22,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which is well within the 'normal' range. After a 30 day (non-treatment) follow-up, their scores had 'bounced' back to 33, which although higher, is still considered 'normal.' The researchers conclude that 'the use of EFT for the treatment of PTSD warrants further investigation.........."
Other times,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], when something has triggered him and his anxiety levels are going up, and mine along with his, I’ll tap on myself and I’m able to be less defensive about whatever he’s upset about, and that helps me to handle it better and can diffuse the situation without it escalating. I’ve literally used EFT on hundreds of my own emotional and physical issues and can honestly say that I’m a much healthier person than I’ve ever been.
The EFT-PTSD Research Study is offering free treatments to qualified veterans who have PTSD. These treatments are being conducted by phone, so they can be done in the safety of your home or apartment, which works out well since a lot of the PTSD vets tend to isolate. If you got even a small amount of improvement, (which would be unusual-- most people get a significant amount of improvement from this method) wouldn’t it be worth it? What would it be worth to you to get a few more hours of sleep a night, to be able to get through your day without pain meds, or to live life with significantly less anxiety and anger?
PTSD is a normal response to very abnormal conditions or situations. War is not normal. Neither are rapes, natural disasters or any of the other situations that are traumatizing and can cause PTSD. Symptoms include fear, anxiety, hyper-vigilance, depression, addictions, violence, relationship problems, sleep disruptions, etc.
My husband’s PTSD was severe. He spent two years in the VA as an inpatient when he returned from Vietnam. Our life was hell. He was often suicidal and suffered from constant depression,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], nightmares, flashbacks and his anger was scary. In fact he had almost ALL of the symptoms of PTSD.

I’ve used EFT with my husband for his PTSD and have seen some amazing results. He still has PTSD, but his symptoms are better and we have a better quality of life. It’s more bearable. GRATITUDE AND LAW OF ATTRACTION
In one of her books titled "The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity", Catherine Ponder stated something worth remembering, "The ungrateful never prospers''. According to the author, your ungrateful attitude is pushing abundance and prosperity away from you.
Now, a simple technique to activate that MONEY MAGNET inside you is the following.
It was explained by the late teacher Jack Ensign Addington in one of his books,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. It was given to a man who was desperate with an ever increasing pile of unpaid bills and angry creditors hunting him all over the place.
You can also use this second technique to help you neutralize any subconscious barriers to using Technique ONE,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Some prefer the present tense statements ("I easily get the position as manager at XYZ company. The job is mine"), some prefer to use "You" instead of "I" ("John, YOU easily get the position as manager at company XYZ"),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and others prefer to use the command mode ("Make $2,000 by next week") instead of "I make $2,000 by the end of this week", or even "By next week I will easily make $2,000").
TECHNIQUE NUMBER ONE
Most likely, NO. You are probably too busy focusing on what is wrong in your life and bitterly complaining about it.
"I am so grateful and happy that by such/such date I will easily be a millionaire".
"I am so grateful and happy that I am getting the new job at company XYZ"
Now, it should be perfectly clear why 'The ungrateful never prospers". As these ungrateful individuals FOCUS mainly on what is wrong in their lives, they put into operation the universal Law of attraction, which keeps bringing them what they FOCUS on: the 'bad' stuff in their lives. And the Subconscious Law of Multiplication and Expansion makes those troubles, not only worse, but it makes those troubles expand into all the areas of their lives as well.
Examples: Thank you for my great health and vitality.
Thank you for having a car
Thank you because I have enough money to eat TODAY
Thank you because I have a job
Thank you for my great intelligence
Those objections will make the use of Technique Number One very ineffective.
In our teachings, we present different formats, different ways to write your mind reprogramming instructions (for new beliefs, values or goals).
Keep following Technique Number Two for several days. You may even need a week.
"I am so grateful that money comes abundantly to me now"
Now, who or what do you give thanks to? That is your choice. Give it to God, the Universe, Life, The Universal Mind, Infinite Intelligence within you, The Quantum Field, The Creative Force, the Creator or whoever/whatever you believe to be the SOURCE of that abundance you are attracting to you using the power of your Subconscious mind.
"I am so grateful and happy that I am a money magnet"
As you wake up in the morning, spend the first 5-10 minutes staying in bed with your eyes closed and again repeating over and over the same sentence.
These objections could be "Come on, what abundance,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], what wealth?". "Nonsense. You are drowning with unpaid bills",[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "You repel money", "You never have enough money". and many others.
These barriers may manifest themselves as objections arising from the mind when repeating the statements in Technique Number One.

Therefore, you will be using a different TACTIC to go around the resistance of your Subconscious.
Therefore, start invoking the Law of Attraction by using this "I am so grateful and happy ..." format.
Technique Number TWO is to be used in case you encounter a subconscious barrier using the first method.
TECHNIQUE NUMBER TWO
By now, you should understand why. 'Gratitude' makes you focus on the things that are working in your life, which causes you to attract MORE of the 'good' stuff. Your "ungratefulness" makes you focus on the things you are ungrateful about, the things that are not working in your life -- which means your entire focus is on what is NOT working in your life, the "bad" stuff, which causes you to attract more of the same undesirable results.
Thank you for the wonderful lunch I had today
Start your "I am so grateful and happy that . . . here you write your goal..."
Then, as you go through your day, STOP focusing on things that you consider to be detrimental and not good in your life. Instead, keep mentally repeating one or several of the statements above. The Laws of Attraction and the Law of Multiplication and Expansion will take care of everything else.
There are two simple techniques you can use to start activating that Money Magnet inside you.
